“People do not care how much you know until they first know how much you care” - John C Maxwell
I am honored to be a candidate for President-Elect of the APA. I bring experience, energy and enthusiasm to this important position. Like many of you, I am first and foremost a clinician, dedicated to the care of my patients. It has been a privilege to be a psychiatrist. I have worked in academic medicine, first caring for and doing research in the realm of sexual trauma, followed by private practice and most recently working in an integrated care setting with 23 medical and surgical oncologists for partners. My clinical work has been exceedingly rewarding and has left me optimistic about all that our field has to offer both patients as well as the house of medicine in general. The way I see it as a physician we have three responsibilities, first to our patients, second to our profession and third to our community which includes our health care delivery system. The APA is and has always been my professional family. Service to this family has taught me lessons about leadership, public policy and duty to my patients and colleagues.
Knowledge, understanding and experience in the governance structure of the Assembly and Board of Trustees is essential to effective leadership of our organization in a time of challenge and transition.
I appreciate your support, I need your voice and I want your vote.
